I'm BAAAAAAACK with a new story!!!! YAYYYYY (title may change)

“What’s that smell?” Rita stopped mid-stride, sniffing the air.

“I don’t smell anything.” Jack said, grabbing Rita’s arm. “Now come on, we’re gonna be late, and I cannot survive another detention with Ms. Gready.”

“Shut up, stupid. I definitely smell something.” Rita sniffed some more, nearing a classroom door.

“You’re the stupid one. Now let’s go!” Jack pulled on Rita’s arm harder.

“Just give me a second Jack!” Rita exclaimed, wrenching her arm free of his grasp. She walked towards the classroom. “I think it’s coming from in here.”

“I still don’t smell anything.” Jack grumbled.

“You’re telling me you don’t smell that? It smells like peaches.” Said Rita, lowering her voice to a whisper suddenly. “Jack! Look! There’s shadows under the door!” She put her hand on the doorknob.

“What are you doing!?” Jack-whisper shouted. “We’re gonna get in trouble for going into that classroom! And then we’re gonna get in trouble for being late because we went into the classroom!”

“Jack, chill. It’s gonna be fine. Ok, I’m gonna open this door in three...two...one… BAH!” Rita threw open the door with a shout, raven hair flying, as a huge, peach-scented gust of wind hit them both in the face, throwing Rita and Jack backwards.

“AAAAAAHHHHHHH” A voice screamed. Rita sat up, peering through the pale orange cloud of smoke billowing from the classroom. As the smoke cleared, she stood up, watching the scene slowly appear. Three small children stood, huddled together, in front of something large, with smoke pouring out of it. They were blocking it from view, but Rita could smell something so sweet it was almost sickening. The children, who looked to be about 11, were huddled together, two of whom were hiding, quivering behind a girl at the front of the pack, who looked much braver. She was slender, with bushy orange hair, only slightly darker than the smoke. She was clad in a white shirt and appalling purple corduroy pants, with matching braces. The boys behind her were too obscured by the girl and by the smoke to see, but their shaking was all too easy to make out.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” Rita sneered, trying to look menacing. Almost a foot taller than the children in front of her, she crossed her arms and stared them down, trying to intimidate.

“That’s none of your business!” The girl said, crossing her arms and stepping forward.

“I believe it is, considering this is my school you’re in, missy.” Rita retorted, stepping closer to the girl.

“Actually, schools are government property, so you can’t tell me what to do!” The girl exclaimed, stepping so that she was staring straight up at Rita.

“Well I’M your superior, and you don’t even go here, so-” Rita began to shout, before Jack, who had been watching in stunned silence, interjected.

“Why don’t we just calm down a second, everyone?” Jack said, as calmly as he could muster, gently pushing the girls away from each other, who both harrumphed in response. “I think what my sister is trying to say is that she’s a little surprised to see you here, and would like to know what you’re doing.”

“To put it lightly.” Rita grumbled under her breath.

“Listen mister-” The girl stated. “What we’re doing here is none of your business. Now run along to your little meeting. We’re doing something here, and we’d rather not be interrupted.”

“See? Even she thinks we should get down to Ms. Gready’s office before-” Jack began.

“Wait-” Rita interrupted, walking towards the girl “How did you know we had a meeting to go to?”

The girl gulped. “You-you said it, earlier, when you...um…” She trailed off, looking frantically around.

“I think we should talk.” Rita firmly remarked, pulling Jack into the room and shutting the door behind them.
